Hitches For Tensioning

Taunt Line well-known hitch for erecting a small tent that can be adjusted to keep it taunt.

Taunt Line Hitch

A commonly and often first learned tensioning hitch is the Taunt Line. It is well-known for erecting a small tent from tarps or ponchos and is easily adjusted. It and the clove hitch are the two knots that are necessary to make our five minute shelter. It can also be used in combination with loop in the middle of the rope to form a Trucker’s Hitch to gain mechanical advantage.
